This intimate memoir begins in 1970 with the author's first meeting with Chogyam Trungpa. Hayward vividly describes Trungpa's powerful, direct way of working with students, his groundbreaking work in bringing Buddhism to the West, and the teachings Trungpa presented each year. He also describes his own personal spiritual journey with Trungpa as a guide. Trained as a scientist at Cambridge University, Hayward was a member of the first group of scientists to visit the home of the Dalai Lama in 1987.
