This wonderful film chronicles the life of the great Nyingma master Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, one of Tibet's most revered twentieth century Buddhist teachers. His life and teachings were an inspiration to all who encountered him, and his many students included the Dalai Lama and the Royal family of Bhutan, as well as masters from the other schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
Richard Gere and Lou Reed provide the narration for his life story and dangerous escape from Tibet and the subsequent spread of his influence around the world. Brilliant Moon was filmed in Tibet, India, Bhutan, Nepal, and the United States, and uses animation (to tell his of his childhood and early life), rare archival footage and interviews with some of Tibet's great masters to tell his moving life story, from birth to death to rebirth (with footage of the young incarnation, Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche).
Written and directed by Neten Chokling Rinpoche (directer of the Milarepa movie), one of Khyentse Rinpoche's students, it is an intimate, moving and revelatory look at a transcendent spiritual being.
