Zen | | Zen is said to have been introduced to China from India by master Bodhidharma in the 6th CE. Zen (Ch'an in Chinese)is derived from the Sanskrit Dhyana (Jhana)meaning meditative absorption, and is aimed at directly perceiving one's true Buddha nature. Zen is divided into two main branches - Rinzai and Soto. Both are covered here as separate categories as well as an extensive listing of more general Zen titles.
